Why Volunteer at HSNT?

The Humane Society of North Texas relies greatly on the generosity of people willing to donate their time and skills.  Their kindness and support enables us to continue our efforts in providing care for the homeless animals of North Texas.  Our work simply would not be possible without the support of our volunteers.

When you donate your time to HSNT, you are helping to provide the extra love and support our animals need to prepare for their forever homes. At the end of the day, you’ll know that your time had an impact on HSNT’s animals, and we’re sure they’ll have an impact on you, too!

How You Can Help

Volunteers can help HSNT in a multitude of ways; be it walking dogs, playing with cats, assisting in adoptions, lending an extra hand during a large cruelty case, or representing HSNT at events.  No matter your interests, we’re sure there is a volunteer job suited just for you!

If you are interested in working with horses and other livestock, we have volunteer positions available! This is a unique job where you get to be outside in the mud and muck, spending time with all these amazing animals. You do not need to have experience, as we will learn what you are good at and safely teach you how to help with the horses or livestock.

Volunteer Guidelines

  • Volunteers at all HSNT facilities must be at least 16 years of age.

  • Youth volunteers between the ages of 16–17 may volunteer with the signed permission of a parent or legal guardian at all HSNT locations.

  • We ask that our volunteers commit to four hours of service a month in the shelter or at offsite events.

All applicants that are accepted into our volunteer program will be added to our volunteer database to start receiving information about upcoming volunteer opportunities and orientation dates. Accepted volunteers are asked to pay a one-time non-refundable volunteer fee of $30. This fee covers the cost of your volunteer t-shirt & apron, HSNT branded fanny pack, training materials, and administrative costs. Orientation is approximately two hours in length and is held monthly at our Saxe-Forte and Keller Regional Adoption Centers.
